dc.description.abstractAs the aim of this research is to pin-out areas and places where robberies and break ins are rampant. We tackle this issue by designing an intrusion detection and prevention system for areas where security needs to be upgraded. The Intrusion Detection and Prevention system is mainly for homes and offices, and also for certain premises where by the owner of that premise requires strict security around that perimeter. This system detects unauthorized entries and is also used for protection against burglary (Theft) as well as protection against intruders. The parts and components that are required for the proposed system (Intrusion Detection and Prevention system are: The Esp32 micro-controller, motion sensor, Buzzer, WIFI inbuilt module, Jumper wires, breadboard, relay, spray motor, USB cable and the breadboard. The project is divided in the following sections: the processing part, the sensory input part, the feedback part. The sensor part is used to detect intrusions in a given place or premise. The processing part is sued to process the signals from the sensor. In the feedback part, we used a buzzer for alarm. We used also a motor spray to eject and scare the intruder. The inbuilt WIFI module will help connect the system to the internet and thus be able to alert the owner of any intrusion through the email. The USB cable is used in connecting the microcontroller to a computer in order for the microcontroller to be programmed. We mostly used questionnaires to get information from the respondents due to the standards of operating procedures in line with the covid-19 guide lines and regulations. We collected data from three government agencies within the country concerned with policy development and safety welfare in relation to intrusion detection and prevention, namely national security and defense, department of homeland security and Uganda police. We analyzed the collected data using Microsoft excel. The project was designed using data flow diagrams for process model. Implementation of was Carried out using technologies which included c programming for writing the sketch and case diagrams for the data model , Aduino IDE that allowed writing compiling and uploading code to the board.en_US
