Improper waste management refers to the disposal of waste in a way that has negative consequences for the environment as stated by the World Health Organization. The risks of poor waste management are multi-dimensional, including environmental, social, economic, and health. The consequences are particularly acute, in the context of developing countries. This study mainly bases on the effects of improper waste management on community welfare. Emphasis is put on the social and economic aspects which include health, the environment, and wildlife and so on. The study conceptualizes reasons for improper waste management, demographic factors, the outcomes and the recommendations of improper waste management to the socio- economic effects of improper waste management in terms of community welfare. The study aims on finding out the correlation between these two variables i.e.; Effects of indiscriminate dumping of waste on health, effect of open waste burning and industrial waste fumes on the environment and the effect of poor drainage on the various economic activities in the community. Reasons put forward for these issues is the continuous population growth 5.1% and 3.3% that comes with urbanization and yet inadequate resources to move along that very line. However much the government and other responsible personnel have tried as hard as possible to fight improper waste management and its effects on community welfare, there seem to be loop holes in implementation and execution of these policies and hence inefficiency. Therefore, the research study to be executed puts forward possible effective strategies that can help deal with the problem.en_US
