| dc.description.abstract | This dissertation examines the theme of child upbringing in Runyankore proverbs.
More specifically, this research talks about how the Ankole proverbs help parents and the society
at large in the proper upbringing of children. This research uses interviews, observation and
reading to achieve the objectives of the study and more so to bring out the theme of child
upbringing in Runyankole proverbs. This theme has been brought out by dividing into various
categories that is proverbs that help to bring up children by encouraging hard work, the proverbs
that teach children about marriage as they grow up, the proverbs that encourage children to be
united as they grow up and the proverbs that ensure that children are disciplined as they grow up.
All these aspects are analyzed in this research and I therefore conclude that proverbs are so
helpful in the upbringing of children because the message that is contained in them. | en_US |
