dc.description.abstract.Treatment of incinerator bottom ash was done to reduce on the level of toxic or heavy metals present in the ash from incineration of medical and pharmaceutical wastes. The heavy metals included Cd, Pb, Cu, Fe, Cr, Hg and among others .This treatment was done by complexation using cement which is very expensive and the industry incurs more costs on the ash treatment. However, with the use of pozzolana fly ash which is cheaper than cement makes the treatment less expensive. At Luwero industries limited there was a problem of high costs of cement needed for the treatment of incinerator bottom ash from medical and pharmaceutical wastes. However, the use of lava ash pozzolana instead of cement could reduce on the costs of incinerator bottom ash treatment because it is cheaper than cement and easily available.en_US
