dc.description.abstractThe study sought to investigate the different performance strategies in Ateso folktales and how they affect meaning development in the. Emphasis were laid on the narrative introductory statements, language and others which were found relevant. Observation and documentary analysis was used to arrive in conclusions made. The study concludes that the Iteso folktale performance is not just a one-night dream but a combination of factors including, audience engagements in the performance made of the singing, introductory response and end of story response, language twists, use of animal characters are all those observed among the strategies used in the performance in the Iteso folktale. It’s also worth noting that the Iteso folktales are enriched with the narrators’/ performers ability to relate the take to the common days’ way of life in the society while respecting the norms and values but ensuring good performance.en_US
