dc.description.abstractE-learning is playing a very important role in the present educational scenario. It has the potential to change the whole education system and due to this very reason, it has become one of the most preferred subjects for researchers. It is therefore for this reason that an empirical study aimed at finding out the factors influencing the effectiveness of E-learning at Makerere University to make teaching and learning effective in higher institutions of learning in Uganda. A self-administered questionnaire was employed to empirically investigate the study. The findings of this study revealed that factors such as age, source of income, monthly income, and gadgets possessed by the students positively influence students' ability to use E-learning. Hence, there is a need for subsidization of E-learning gadgets by the government to enable students to access gadgets at reduced prices, training of lecturers and students on E-learning platforms, more ICT tools should be provided to higher institutions, Motivation, and rewarding lecturers to use E-learning and integrating the ICT strategy into the institutions' overall strategies.
