Tagetes minuta., Strongly scented annual herb with stiff erect stems up to 2 m tall, are widely distributed in almost all regions of Uganda and its biological role and phytochemical composition are not still fully reconnoitered. The present work was undertaken to explore the phytochemical analysis of Tagetes minuta. to determine the phytochemical constituents, present in flowers and leaves extracts of Tagetes minuta used as a natural insecticide on bean weevil s control. The study was done by using a qualitative phytochemical assay. The whole phytochemical analysis showed a fair number of phytochemicals (tannins, and alkaloids) in both extracts of flowers and leaves all with important insecticidal bioactivities. The findings from the present investigation clearly showed that Tagetes minuta. possessed high tannin and alkaloid contents with good bioactivities against bean weevils and could be used as a valuable source of natural insecticides and hence can prevent massive bean yield losses to bean weevils.en_US
