Factors influencing condom use among adolescents in Soroti district
Abstract
Residence, age at first sex, ever gone for HIV testing, level of education, frequency of listening to radio, marital status, frequency of watching tv, and main occupation were the factors thought to be associated with influencing condom use among adolescents in Soroti district. After bivariate analysis, we found out that age at first sex, age, HIV testing, level of education, marital status, frequency of watching TV, and main occupation were the factors influencing condom use among adolescents in Soroti district.
The other determinants are not statistically significant because they have a p-value greater than 0.05. At multivariate levels, a few variables were used because of a small sample size. Age, HIV testing history, education, and marital status were the variables used, and it was found that only age and HIV testing history of the respondents were statistically significant in influencing condom use among the adolescents. In general, the whole model was significant in influencing condom use.
