Effect of COVID-19 on household income : A case study of Nakulabye households

The main purpose of the study was to find out the effect of Covid-19 on household. The research mainly focused on the different sources of income for the different households before Covid-19 struck and whether or not they were affected. The research also determined the size of the different households. The research also focused on the different ranges of income for the respondents. The study also focused on whether the different respondents received financial assistance or bail out during the lockdown. Univariate analysis was carried out mainly using descriptive statistics such as frequency tables for the categorical variables, bivariate analysis was done using chi-square distribution and conclusions were made at 5% level of significance. The results from the bivariate analysis showed that there is a relationship between receiving financial assistance or bail out with age group , household size, income source before Covid-19 struck. They also showed that there is no significant relationship between receiving financial assistance or bail out with gender of respondents and marital status. Under multivariate analysis, household size , physical status and income source before Covid-19 struck were significant predictors of receiving financial assistance. Age group, gender, marital status were not significant predictors of receiving financial assistance since the p-values are greater than the level of significance.
