Covid-19 narratives: personal experiences and lessons
Abstract
The narrative style employed by Corona virus narratives, their verbal and non-verbal
cues that came forth while they told their stories together with thevaluable lessons that I drew
from their experiences. The above mentioned are the aspects that this study is centered on. To
make this study a success, observation, interviewing as well as the use of a Questionare are the
methods that I relied on and sincerely through them, the success of this study came home. During
the study the first person narrative point of view, vivid description, flashback, diction,
foreshadowing as well as chronological development of their stories are the narrative styles that
came forth. On part of the verbal and non-verb cues, hand movement, eye contact, emphatic tone
of voice as well as emphatic facial expressions were employed by the various interviewees. Then
vigilance, respect of messages given by authority and having to always take things seriously are
the lessons that I got to draw from the various survivors that I interviewed. Conclusively, story
telling is an effective way in the discovery of narrative style, verbal and non-verbal cues as well
picking valuable lessons from narrators. The face to face interaction makes story telling an
effective way of getting to achieve these aspects.
