Time series analysis on the economic performance (revenue) of ecotourism in Uganda (2010-2020) - Scope of the study: National Forestry Authority

Abstract

This research is aimed at finding out the relationship between the revenues generated from eco-tourism and the non-tax revenues generated by NFA, government revenue inflows and the donor revenue inflows into NFA while trying to assess the relationship and the impact of these revenues generated and those given and generated by National Forestry Authority as the sole government organization in charge of eco-tourism in Uganda. The research shall be a timeseries research and shall only be quantitative since all the variables shall be continuous. The research shall only consider a 10-year period (2010 to 2020). The primary objective of the research is to assess whether there is a statistical relationship between the revenues generated from ecotourism and the revenues generated by NFA, the donor revenues inflows and the government revenue inflows into NFA over a period of 10 years. By employing different statistical analysis techniques such as multiple regression analysis, the study aims at finding out the magnitude and direction of the relationship between the revenues generated from ecotourism and the revenues generated by NFA, the donor revenues inflows and the government revenue inflows into NFA. The findings from the research will help to help to expand on the existing pool of knowledge on the performance of the eco-tourism sector as well as the tourism sector overall in Uganda. This will avail policy makers, the stakeholders of the eco-tourism sector and the overall government of Uganda on the different effective strategies that must be undertaken to ensure efficiency in the performance of the economy of Uganda. Furthermore, the research shall help to assess whether there’s a need to improve on the amount of revenues that are distributed to NFA, or there are more policy implementations that are required to ensure that the performance of eco-tourism is boosted as well as that of the Ugandan economy without adverse effects on the environment its self. This will help to identify the areas of priority so as to ensure an improvement in the performance of the eco-tourism sector in Uganda.
