Road accidents continue to be a significant concern in today's society, despite advancements. in vehicle design and road infrastructure. The city of Kampala, in particular, has experienced. a concerning rise in road accidents, highlighting the urgent need for effective road safety measures. This project focuses on the development of a system for road safety and vehicle. accident prevention, harnessing the power of embedded systems technology. One key aspect of this project is addressing accidents that occur on curved roads. To achieve this, vehicles will be equipped with ultrasonic sensors that provide advanced warning to drivers about obstacles and vehicles on the other side of the road. By alerting drivers in advance, this system aims to prevent accidents caused by limited visibility on curved roads. Additionally, a tilt sensor will be incorporated to detect signs of driver drowsiness. When drowsiness is detected, an alarm will be activated to alert the driver, reducing the risk of accidents caused by driver fatigue. Another crucial element of the proposed system is the integration of an alcohol sensor. This sensor will detect alcohol levels in the driver's breath and automatically disable the vehicle's. engine if the alcohol concentration exceeds the legal limit. By effectively preventing drunk driving incidents, this system seeks to significantly reduce the number of accidents caused by impaired driving. Furthermore, the project includes the development of a comprehensive accident detection and classification system. This system will utilize microcontroller boards and an array of sensors to monitor various physical parameters associated with vehicle motion. By continuously collecting data on factors such as speed, acceleration, and deceleration, the system will be able to detect and classify accidents with accuracy. The collected information will be promptly reported to emergency service providers, enabling them to respond quickly and provide the necessary assistance. By leveraging the capabilities of embedded systems technology, this project aims to address multiple factors that contribute to vehicle-related accidents. The proposed system's integration of ultrasonic sensors, tilt sensors, alcohol sensors, and accident detection technology has the potential to greatly enhance road safety in Kampala. By reducing the occurrence of accidents, this system can help save lives and create a safer environment for all road users.en_US
