dc.description.abstractThis dissertation joins a vibrant conversation in the impact of mobile money on unemployment rate in Uganda. The objectives of this study were, to assess the impact of mobile money transactions on unemployment rate in Uganda as the main objective, to determine the trends in unemployment rate and value of transactions in Uganda from 2009-202, to find out the relationship between number of registered customers and unemployment rate in Uganda and to find out the relationship between number of transactions and unemployment rate in Uganda. This study was based on secondary data obtained from mobile money statistics by Bank of Uganda, mobile money statistics database from 2009-2020 and unemployment rate from UBOS and the univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis were carried out using STATA and this was purely a time series analysis. It was later revealed that there was a statistically significant negative relationship between number of mobile money transactions and unemployment rate and on the basis of this finding we conclude that the number of mobile money transactions was not independent of unemployment rate. As a result, the research has recommended extension of mobile money transaction in order to create more employment opportunities due to increase in investment among citizen.en_US
