Design of a smart health and drip monitoring system for admitted patients at mulago referral hospital
Abstract
This project entails the abstract below
At Mulago Referral Hospital, particularly in ICU cases, the regulation of fluids into the
bloodstream is crucial and is typically managed using a drip. The maintenance of a constant
inflow of fluids requires regular monitoring or replacement of the drip. The responsibility of
monitoring the drip position usually falls on nurses or other healthcare providers in most
hospitals. However, due to their busy schedules, they may forget to change the bottle at the
appropriate time, leading to potential problems. To address this issue, The Smart Health Drip
Monitoring System for admitted patients at Mulago Referral Hospital is an innovative solution
designed to improve patient care and safety in healthcare facilities, particularly in the context of
intravenous (IV) drip administration. This system leverages sensor technologies to monitor and
regulate the IV drip process, ensuring accurate dosage, timely alerts, and real-time data
monitoring. With this system in place, we can achieve the following benefits; improved patient
safety and care, early detection of drip irregularities, reduction in human errors and manual
monitoring and time and cost savings for healthcare providers. Our system monitors fluid flow
and measures patients’ temperature as well as displaying the distance measured by the ultrasonic
