A Dissertation submitted to school of education in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of degree of Bachelor of Arts with Education of Makerere University.en_US
This dissertation critically analyses the characterization of women in selected Ankole folktales. It examines the word choices in selected Ankole folktales and their implications on how women are viewed in Ankole. The study observes that Ankole folktales characterize women as confined to the domestic sphere and are not political. The women are fashioned as majorly homemakers and their participation in political activities often silenced. The characterization of women as majorly non-political actors and confining them to the domestic sphere patronizes them.en_US
