The study basically explores the causes of domestic violence among women in lango region with evidence from Uganda Demographic Household Survey (2016/2017) data set collected by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS).domestic violence still remains a constant issue globally affecting millions of women and children and lango region is no exception. The study aims to identify and analyze the various socio-economic and demographic factors that contribute to domestic violence in the region. Analysis was done at three levels that is univariate analysis where frequency tables were generated for the variables since they were categorical, bivariate analysis which include the measure of association between the independent variables and the dependent variable that is domestic violence using Pearson’s chi-square test and multivariate with the measure of likelihood of an event (odds ratio) at a 5% level of significance. This report investigates the economic issues in Lango region where high school drop outs, polygamous marriage, poverty, limited household income, deep rooted cultural norms such as decision in the home can only be made by men bring about the prevalence of domestic violence. The main goal of this report is to uncover the economic and social circumstances that forces and persuade husbands to beat up their women often resulting into upbringing of children who are prone to violence and affecting the coming generation since their behaviors end up affecting the community at large. Finally this dissertation highlights recommendation such as community awareness campaigns on domestic violence among women, education reforms and legal enhancement.it then offers pathways for policy makers, NGO’s, and stakeholders to effect meaningful change. Through addressing these challenges head-on, we aim to pave the way towards a peaceful and brighter future for the women and families in Lango region.en_US
