dc.description.abstractThe project aimed at designing and developing an e-library resources arrival management system for Metropolitan International University (MIU) library, Namungoona that promptly alerts library patrons about new library resources. The project objectives were to; Examine the current system used to manage new resources in Metropolitan International University (MIU) library, Namungoona, Identify the types of resources acquired by Metropolitan International University library, Namungoona, determine the requirements necessary to design and develop an e-new library resources arrival management system for MIU library, Namungoona and design and develop an e-library resources arrival management system for MIU library, Namungoona to promptly alerts library patrons about new library resources. The study used a case study research design while adopting a Qualitative research approach to collect data. The collected data was presented using texts, paraphrases and direct quoting of respondents’ words. It was later analyzed using content analysis techniques. Purposive technique was used on two (2) librarians, and 8 students which brings up a sample size of ten (10) who participated in the study. Additionally, data collection methods included interviewing, observation and document review methods. The study found out that Metropolitan International University (MIU) library, Namungoona manually pins lists of their newly acquired resources at the noticeboard. However, the process of doing this is tiresome for the librarians and a lot of time is wasted as students be congested at the notice board seeking for the titles. The study concluded that Metropolitan International University (MIU) library, Namungoona should adopt an e-library resources arrival management system to that promptly alerts library patrons about new library resources. The project study recommended that Metropolitan International University (MIU) library, Namungoona should adopt and implement this e-library resources arrival management system. Other recommendations included user and librarian training.en_US
