Factors affecting job search duration: a comparative study of job seekers in Central Uganda
Abstract
Job search duration is an important part of how job markets work, affecting how job seekers experience the process and how well job markets run. This study looks into the various factors that influence how long it takes for job seekers in Central Uganda to find jobs. It uses a comprehensive approach to understand how things like personal information, ways of looking for jobs, work experience, education, income, and where people live all come together to affect how quickly people find jobs.
This research draws upon a sample of individuals in Central Uganda, employing both quantitative and qualitative methods to find the nature of job search duration. Through structured surveys and insightful interviews, the study gains valuable insights into the factors that influence the speed and success of job searches within this region.
The findings of this study shed light on how demographic attributes such as age, gender, and educational background impact job search duration. Additionally, it delves into the effects of active and passive job search strategies, varying work experiences, educational levels, income ranges, and where individuals are located on the duration of their job searches.
The significance of this study lies in its potential to inform labor market policies, refine recruitment strategies, and enhance job seeker support initiatives within Central Uganda. By comprehending the underlying factors contributing to either prolonged or efficient job searches, stakeholders can make well-informed decisions aimed at reducing the duration of unemployment and facilitating more suitable job matches.
In conclusion, this study offers an in-depth exploration of the factors influencing job search duration among job seekers in Central Uganda. By determining the factors that impact this process, it provides valuable insights that can potentially reshape labor market dynamics and empower job seekers in their pursuit of meaningful employment opportunities.
