This research paper aims to evaluate the parking demand and supply at Makerere University, one of the largest universities in Uganda. The study employs a mixed methods approach to analyse the parking situation on campus, including data collection through surveys, interviews, and observations. The research assesses the current parking capacity and utilization, as well as the parking behaviour and preferences of the university's stakeholders. The findings indicate a significant gap between the parking demand and supply at the university, which leads to congestion, safety issues, and inconvenience for the users. The total number of vehicles that access the university premises throughout the day were 3,584. The current parking supply is estimated to be 50 spaces for on-street parking, 920 spaces for off-street parking and 970 spaces for campus parking. This was clearly indicative of the insufficiency of the existing public parking facilities within Makerere University in comparison to the current demand for them The study also identifies several factors influencing the parking situation, such as the campus layout, parking policies, and the commuting patterns of the users. Based on the analysis, the research recommends a range of interventions to improve the parking situation at Makerere University, including the implementation of a parking management system, the development of alternative transportation options, and the revision of the parking policy to align with the university's sustainability goals. The study contributes to the literature on parking management and provides practical insights for policymakers and practitioners to enhance the parking experience at universities in Uganda and beyond.en_US
