A Geological mapping report submitted to the Department of Geology and Petroleum studies – Makerere University in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of Bachelor of Science degreeen_US
This geological mapping report presents a comprehensive analysis of the geological features and formations observed within a specified study area. The purpose of this study was to conduct detailed field investigations, collect geological data, and produce an accurate geological map that captures the lithological units, structural features, and stratigraphic relationships present in area G. The mapping process involved the systematic examination and documentation of rock outcrops, sedimentary structures, mineralogical compositions, and structural orientations. Field observations were supplemented with laboratory analysis of collected rock samples, including petrographic analysis to further enhance the understanding of the geological characteristics. Based on the obtained data, a geological map was created, integrating various elements such as lithology, age relationships, faults, folds, and other geological structures. The map provides a visual representation of the spatial distribution and extent of different lithological units and their associated geological features within area G. The analysis of the geological map revealed the presence of multiple lithological units like shales, quartzites, phyllites, granites etc. The study area exhibited complex structural patterns, with faults, folds, beddings and other tectonic features indicating past and ongoing geological processes. Stratigraphic relationships helped to establish the relative ages and geological history of the rock formations. The findings of this geological mapping report contribute to the understanding of the geological evolution and tectonic history of area G. The accurate representation of lithological units and geological structures aids in the identification of potential mineral resources, geological hazards, and the development of effective land management strategies. This report serves as a valuable resource for geologists, researchers, and stakeholders involved in geological studies, land-use planning, and natural resource management within the study area. The insights gained from this mapping exercise will facilitate future research, exploration, and informed decision-making in the field of geology.en_US
