dc.description.abstractThis research looks at different definitions of proverbs, the background and specific literature that guided my research. Proverb is one of the most important genres of oral literature. The study focuses on the need to promote hard work among the people of Bugwere community and also enhance the use of proverbs as a genre of oral literature It also explores the theme of hard work and how it is portrayed through the use of specific literary styles for example; symbolism, metaphor, Imagery and Irony that are in line with, and these guided my research. . It shows circumstances in which proverbs were developed and the lessons these proverbs have to offer to people through the use of symbols, imagery, metaphors and irony. It was carried out using qualitative methodologies.en_US
