This study examines the characterization aspect of riddles among the Bakonzo of South-Western Uganda. It draws on examples from various categories of riddles collected in this community to analyse the mode of characterizations employed in the riddling discourse. The research was mainly carried out to investigate and show how characters work in the riddles of the Bakonzo people. From the research carried out, the researcher found out that the concept of characterization is greatly developed through the use of human, animal and object characters like man, woman, children, caterpillars, lions, millipedes and stones among others. It was therefore the core purpose of the study to find out and show how the concept of characterization plays out in the selected Konzo riddles.en_US
