The main purpose of this study was to investigate the implementation of parking standards based on adherence. The study had three specific objectives that included; evaluating compliance levels to the parking standards i.e. the existing situation, investigating the various reasons for noncompliance and revealing the various gaps in the implementation of building bylaws in Uganda. Cross-sectional research design which were both qualitative and quantitative were employed to find solutions as regards to this research, managers of buildings, a landlord and staff at KCCA were interviewed and data collected from which conclusions and recommendations had to be generated . Data collected was analysed using primary data collected by the researcher and secondary data collected online, academic papers and other legal documents. It is the role of the government to guarantee a safe and livable environment and this according to the law is vested in the hands of local authorities like Kampala Capital City Authority. Developing/low middle-income countries still face issues with implementation of laws and regulations not withstanding building parking standards. The government of Uganda developed a number of regulations that control the development of buildings that are; the Building Control Act of 2013, the national physical planning standards and guidelines drafted by Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, the building regulations of 2020 and other regulations.en_US
