dc.description.abstract | The study focused on investigating the factors that influence the frequency of claims which are normally inevitable on most construction projects. These claims are undesirable as they require significant time and resources to resolve and cause adversarial relationships among the parties involved, making disputes, delays, and cost overruns a common occurrence. Specifically, the research determined the frequency of different types of claims on construction projects, the main factors that contribute to their occurrence, established the relationship between the factors and the frequency of the claims. A descriptive research design and survey research method were adopted and data was collected through a questionnaire survey admistered online. Descriptive data analysis, factor analysis and regression analysis were adopted with aid of Microsoft excel, Microsoft word and SPSS software. The findings from the study revealed that payment related claims, delay claims, Change claims, extra work claims, and difference in pricing and measurement claims were the most frequent types of claims. The study also showed that extra work claims, delay in completing work, changes in design and specification, changes in workscope, and extension of time as the main factors that contribute to the highest level of occurrence of claims. | en_US |
