dc.description.abstractThe construction industry plays a significant role in the country economic development and growth. There would be a de-mine impact on the economy if any construction projects are delayed as the pandemic of COVID-19 had a risen into our global that has affected the construction industry mostly the construction projects . Identifying the underlying effects brought about by COVID-19 pandemic can provide best solution to reduce the pandemic impact. Consequently emphasizing the effects of COVID-19 and the strategies to address those problems in the building construction industry becomes vital. Thus, this research objectives is to identify the negative effects of COVID-19 , new opportunities that arose from outbreak of COVID-19 and the mechanisms government is to use to reduce the negative effects of COVID-19. The data collection will involve individual and telephone interviews with 20 contractor companies that are engaged in building construction industry projects. Then the data will be annalized using thematic analysis approach. the effects of COVID-19 has brought about the innovative and diverse use of technology in an exemplary manner which may change the course of construction even after its extinction . The effects included ; delays on projects , inability to secure materials , reduction in productivity rates and others . Also has new opportunities brought about by COVID-19 about the risk management efforts being undertaken. The study findings on COVID-19 will help the industry stakeholders interested in undertaking the effects of COVID-19 on the projects of construction and other researchers may build up on the reported findings and establish best practices for continued safe and productive projects operations.en_US
