Abstract

Left with a burning scar that she has carried all her life, Gina ceases to feel life just to get away from what she has to go through. Gina Apio is a young girl of about 13 years of age and is born into a family that totally detests her. Her biological mother too hates her with passion. Gina’s mother, Victoria Auma was brutally raped a few years back while she was returning from work late at night. The memories of the tragic incident make her hate her daughter. The months of her pregnancy were the worst days for her entire family. She was always in a bad mood and her family had to put her to a therapist to offer some guidance and counselling to prevent her from killing the baby. When the baby is born she makes her a total stranger to the family. Gina is left alone in the whole world! Gina is sent to a boarding school as a way of getting rid of her but this is the greatest relief for her from her tormentors. At school, Gina finds a new life. She devotes herself entirely to her studies and becomes such a great performer. She is very good at even other activities in the school. She does exceedingly well at the end of her secondary education and is able to join the University. Life in the University is not so much exciting as she expects it to be. She is lonely once again. But life cannot always be like that especially for a beautiful girl like her. She meets Joel and they eventually fall madly in love with each other, He loves her too deeply and heals all the wounds of her painful childhood. Made her feel she was the only thing that mattered in the world. Gina devotes wholly to their relationship With time Gina notices that her ever loving Joel has changed his attitude towards her and no longer cares much about her. She pesters him to tell her what the problem could be but he no longer has her attention. This greatly frustrates Gina. She digs up the possible causes of this sudden turn of events and what she discovers shutters her and leaves her numb to emotion. She goes back to her old lonely life but something she never thought could ever happen, takes place and her life changes again.
