This project was aimed at examining the influence of financial assistance on the academic performance of students in Makerere University, Uganda. The study explored the various types of funding available to students, such as scholarships, loans, bursaries, and grants, and the extent to which these funding sources affect academic outcomes. The research methodology involved collecting data through questionnaires. The study targeted a sample of undergraduate students who have receive financial assistance. From the findings, Summary results indicated that the majority of the sampled university students (86%) had 2nd class upper and above and of which the majority of them (54%) were male, (48%) of them have an age between 23-26 and Majority (32%) of the students were offering BCIV. Majority (38%) of the students were in their third year of studies. Most of them (54%) got their upkeep from families, and majority (38%) found it accessible to the funds and lastly, the majority of them (56%) got an email amount between 500001-1000000. The year of study has a significant relationship with academic performance. This is because certain years have students performing more highly than others and could be that some years students tend to be more serious about their academics than others and thus those that are in those years are more likely to perform highly. The other factors that affected academic performance such as gender, accessibility to funds, and those not mentioned were found to significantly affected academic performance implying that a student that is negatively affected by such factors is likely to have poor academic performance The study recommended that, Academic department of the universities, and various stakeholders in education sector should look into the issue of funding of the university students through either increasing it for the case of government students and those on private scholarships. Parents should be sensitized on the need to adequately fund their children especially those in the universities such that they can be able to improve on their academic performance. The study concluded that, funding, amount of funding, course and other factors were found to statistically significantly affected academic performance of the studentsen_US
