The study sought to identify and explain how selected figures of speech were used to develop thematic and aesthetic beauty of the Samia folksongs. The major objectives of study were to examine how the figures of speech help to develop themes in the selected Samia songs, to explain how the figures of speech employed help to bring out the aesthetic beauty. Through interviews, focused group discussions, and document reviews, the researcher was able to identify the prominent figures of speech that is to say metaphors, personification, hyperbole and irony. The researcher started by providing a brief background of who the Samia people are, where they are located, and the activities they carry out. The researcher went ahead to explain the Samia oral literature and how it is performed. The researcher also carried out the literature review about the area of study and was able to find out the different literatures that other people have done about the Samia oral literature and what they have not yet done and also argued out the reasons why she focused on the figurative language in the Samia folksongs and not any other literature. It is no doubt that everyone is encouraged to at least learn or get to know his or her culture as it is desirable and adds value to both and individual and culture. This is because young people are guided by responsive teachers who implement and instill oral literature into the learners as well as they plan on how to make it reach the young generation. The researcher was able to also analyze the different data collected with the aid of the set objectives and different methods that helped in data collections. The researcher went ahead to analyze the findings and was able to come up with a conclusion which included the summary of the study, recommendations and the request for further study.en_US
