This study sets to explore the imagery in selected Runyankore proverbs. It assesses the hidden meaning that is embedded in the image(s) in the proverbs and their effectiveness in bringing out the intended message by the speaker. I used the structuralism theory to analyse the data collected. The following are some of my findings; the English translation of Runyankore proverbs is totally different from its meaning in its actual context, Images are got from both Runyankore and English versions of proverbs but not from their meanings. This is because the meaning is actually the explanation of the proverb but not the real proverb and one proverb can either have one type of imagery or more types of images.en_US
