Research dissertation submitted to department of Literature in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of degree of Bachelor of Arts with Education of Makerere University.en_US
Purpose: The aim of this research project was to identify, investigate and analyse a range of well-known Ateso proverbs and how they are used by Iteso people in Uganda and Kenya to portray children and young people, specifically. The choice of this topic was motivated by the dearth (or more accurately, absence) of existing studies that have researched on this vital area. Despite this, anecdotal evidence shows how traditional Ateso proverbs play a significant role in maintaining social equilibrium and cohesion among the Iteso people. The analysis is based on Ateso proverbs, purposively selected from primary sources.en_US
