The rise of technology has heralded a new age in the rental industry, converting traditional rental processes into more efficient, convenient, and secure experiences. The use of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud computing in the housing industry has been facilitated by underlying technology and critical components. Umeme began implementing prepaid metering for single-phase electricity customers and residences. The Yaka system was tested in Kampala in 2012 and is currently being implemented across the country. In 2014, over 100,000 customers switched over to Yaka [1]. Because of the high expenses of establishing the Yaka systems, landlords prefer shared meters. As a result, each tenant contributes an equal amount of money to cover the electricity expenses based on meter readings. Transactions for both power and rent bills are made in cash, which means that renters and landlords must carry/receive large amounts of cash to complete transactions. Transactional data in the form of tangible receipts have also been lost. Due to the lack of landlords on-site, tenants find it difficult to contact their landlords with any difficulties. The Smart Rental System is a cutting-edge technology developed to help landlords and tenants manage electricity usage and payments in rental homes. They will be able to track energy usage, process payments, increase communication, and close the communication gap between tenants and landlords with the help of this system. The Smart Rental System takes a complete approach to increase tenant satisfaction, empowering landlords, and boosting livelihoods.en_US
