Students come to university from high school with the aim of performing well. However, they are oblivious to the nature of the grading system in the university especially since it is cumulative and therefore, every result from the first year of study contributes in equal measure to the final grade at the end of the study period. This makes it difficult for students to set realistic goals when they enroll at the university. The purpose of this project is to develop a machine learning model to accurately predict student results after a year of study at the university. The model will be trained on actual student data from previous years of study at the university and will be able to accurately predict the student results with high accuracy. This will allow students to have realistic expectations for their academic performance and incentivize them to work hard to achieve their desired outcomes. This shall be achieved as the student’s academic goals and ambitions shall be based on an accurate prediction of the most likely outcome of their CGPA based on their current grades.
