The objective of this study was to assess the methods of saving by old people in the informal sectors. Primary data was obtained from respondents in Kalule Sub-county Luwero District. This quantitative cross-sectional study involved distribution of 300 sets of questionnaires to respondents who were in the informal sector doing different businesses and work for a living. Univariate analysis, cross tabulations and multi nomial logistic regression were performed on the variables in the study using STATA. In the univariate analysis, slightly more than half of the respondents (64.3%) were males and few (35.7%) were females, Majority of the respondents were widowed (36.7%), followed by the married people (32.7%), divorced (29.3%), and the singles were the least. Most of the respondents used VSLAs, (49%) methods of saving, this was followed by those who used other methods of saving (51%). In the bivariate analysis there was relative significant relationships between method of saving and marital status, age, gender, level of education, worried about income of old age and having any family member who is saving. In the multi variate analysis, mode of saving was directly influenced by sex (RRR=0.0974) and respondents family member’s methods of saving (RRR=12.20794). There is need for sensitization and education of old people on various importance of saving among old people in the entire region, and this knowledge will instil some confidence within old Ugandans so that they can save their old age in the available financial institutions.en_US
