dc.description.abstractThis research was based on the need to investigate how the theme of work is brought to light through various proverbs of the Iteso. The research unravels the concept of work through the various Ateso proverbs, and examines how symbolism has been used in the Iteso proverbs to portray people’s attitudes of; perseverance, hard work, laziness in relation to the concept of work. General Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the portrayal of work as a concept in the proverbs of the Iteso through symbolism embedded in the proverbs. Specific objectives: 1. To analyze symbolism in proverbs of the Iteso that talk about the idea of perseverance. 2. To explain how symbolism is used to portray the concept of laziness among the Iteso. 3. To examine how the symbolism in Iteso proverbs portrays the virtue of hard work.en_US
