Performance assessment of Public- private Partnership Projects in Kampala A Case study of performance of waste management project in Kampala
Abstract
This research study focuses on the performance assessment of public-private partnership (PPP)
projects in Kampala, specifically examining the case of the Kiteezi waste management project.
Public-private partnerships have gained popularity as an approach for delivering public
infrastructure projects, and waste management systems are essential for sustainable urban
development. The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of the waste
management project in Kampala, analyzing its financial performance effectiveness,
accountability, and contribution to sustainable waste management practices. Through a
comprehensive case study, this research aims to provide valuable insights into the strengths,
weaknesses, and challenges associated with the PPP model in the waste management sector.
The study will generate empirical data, employ relevant methodologies, and engage multiple
stakeholders to assess the project's financial operation, it’s investment viability, stakeholder
collaboration, and economic efficiency. The research findings will contribute to the body of
knowledge on PPP projects, waste management practices, and public administration, providing
evidence-based recommendations to enhance the success of future PPP initiatives in Kampala
and similar contexts. Ultimately, this research aims to promote transparency, inform policy
decisions, and foster knowledge on investment opportunities in the public private partnership
projects in Kampala and beyond.
