This research delves into an exploration of selected Sabiny proverbs that employ vivid imagery to portray gender differences. Drawing from the rich cultural heritage of the Sabiny people, an indigenous community residing in Eastern Uganda, the study seeks to unravel the nuanced meanings embedded within these proverbs. By analyzing the imagery employed in these linguistic expressions, the research sheds light on how gender roles, expectations, and societal dynamics are conceptualized and communicated within the Sabiny community. To achieve this, a qualitative approach was adopted, encompassing in-depth interviews with community members, focus group discussions, and an extensive review of existing literature on Sabiny culture and proverbs. A purposive sampling technique was employed to select a representative sample of proverbs that exhibit strong visual imagery, emphasizing gender distinctions. Findings from the analysis highlight the symbolic representations of masculinity and femininity within the Sabiny cultural context. The proverbs vividly depict various aspects of gender roles, and dynamics, offering a deeper understanding of the societal constructs that shape the lives of Sabiny individuals. Furthermore, the research uncovers the ways in which these proverbs reflect traditional norms, highlighting the intricate interplay between cultural heritage and gender identities. The implications of this research extend beyond the realm of linguistic analysis, presenting an opportunity to foster cross-cultural understanding and challenge existing stereotypes. By unraveling the underlying meanings of these proverbs, the study contributes to the broader discourse on gender studies, cultural anthropology, and African indigenous knowledge systems. It offers a platform for dialogue and reflection, encouraging critical engagement with traditional wisdom and its implications for gender equality and social change within the Sabiny community and beyond.en_US
