Design of a real time remote health monitoring system for a home of Elderly persons
Abstract
This project aims a designing a real-time remote health monitoring system for a home of elder
persons utilizing LoRa technology. The system focuses continuous monitoring and real-time
analysis of vital body parameters; the heart rate, body temperature and body tilt position. It
ensures the wellbeing and the safety of the elder persons. By utilizing LoRa, the system is able
to transmit health data from the heart rate circuit, the tilt sensor and the temperature sensor
wirelessly for a long distance of about 15km. LoRa technology is chosen because of its long
range capabilities, low power consumption and its ability to penetrate obstacles. The LoRa
communication modules act as gateways, receiving health data from the elder person and
relaying it to the database on the laptop of the medical personnel. At the database, the received
health data is processed, analysed and stored. The dashboard provides user-friendly interface
for the medical personnel to access and monitor real-time health status of the individuals under
their care. The proposed system offers several advantages, including the ability to remotely
monitor the health status of the elder person, reducing frequent hospital visits and congestion
at the hospitals, early detection of health issues. It also provides continuous monitoring of
chronic conditions, enabling personalized care and treatment plans. Additionally, the
utilization of LoRa technology ensures reliable and secure data transmission, maintaining
privacy and data integrity
