dc.description.abstract | Overtime, the design of fuel stations has undergone a shift in service delivery from the primary
role of pumping fuel to a more diverse role by accommodating several other supplementary spaces
and services. The services provided in a petro station depend majorly on the existing model of
cars, social class of the people, location of the fuel station, and the surrounding environment in
general.
This research investigates majorly the supplementary spaces that have been merged in the fuel
station designs, the relationships between the various services and spaces the effects of these
arrangements on various aspects light traffic flow, environmental impact, social impact and the
general experience of the users.
The investigations carried out however are based on the rights and the wrongs in the the designs
of the available fuel stations in Uganda in terms of building design and layouts, site planning and
the relationships between spaces which then called for a review into certain design standards and
guidelines of fuel stations that may affect the different design aspects of these facilities as
documented in the literature review. | en_US |
