DEPLOYMENT OF MICRO-CLOUD IN A TELECOM NETWORK
View/
Open
The emerging trends towards low latency applications have provided a significant challenge to the current cloud based mechanisms or platforms. This calls for a new cloud platform called the micro-cloud which is to be deployed closer to the user to curb down the high latencies. This research project is centred on the deployment of a micro-cloud in a Telecom network with our case study being Kampala, Uganda. This research investigates the feasibility of using a micro-cloud to circumvent the high latencies in the eHealth (telemedicine) sector by inquiring on the various network capabilities of the different service providers, test input and output parameters using simulation and MATLAB to elaborate that with the deployment of a micro-cloud these delays can be reduced greatly.
