dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between occupational stress, organizational commitment and employees performance among employees of China Uganda Friendship Hospital and it focused on answering the following objectives, examining whether occupational stress and organizational commitment are significantly related, examining whether organizational commitment and performance and also examining whether occupational stress and performance are significantly related. In the study the researcher randomly selected 128 respondents to participate using a cconvenient sampling technique. Data was collected using self-report questionnaires and the Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used to determine the strength, direction and statistical significance of correlation. Results revealed a non-significant relationship between occupational stress and organizational commitment, a significant positive relationship between organizational commitment and job performance (r =0.54; P<0.01) and a negative significant relationship between occupational stress and job performance (r =0.32; P<0.05). Since findings showed a non-significant relationship between occupational stress and organizational commitment, managers of China Friendship Hospital need to come up with factors which contribute to organizational commitment among employees. Some of these factors may include leadership style, the organizational culture and the organizational structure. Also there is need to come up with strategies of ensuring employees dedicate all their efforts on behalf of the organization. Some of these strategies include boosting employee benefits, promoting employees, also fostering performing work groups which create cohesion and will foster job performance.
