This was a research project carried out to investigate the self-discharge characteristics of lithium Iron Phosphate batteries at high environmental temperatures. Their self-discharge at room temperature has been documented but at temperatures above room temperature, their selfdischarge is not quantified. In this project we sought to quantify the self-discharge of LiFePO4 at these temperatures. Chapter One is an introduction to the project and includes the project background, problem statement, specific and general objectives, among others. Chapter Two comprises literature review of existing information concerning Lithium phosphate batteries and all other technologies utilized in this project. Chapter Three is an account of the process that we went through to accomplish the goals of our project. The process includes review of existing information, setup of the controlled environment, and design of the data acquisition system and final deployment of the system. Chapter four comprises the results obtained from the project and analysis of these results while Chapter five includes conclusions and recommendations.en_US
