dc.description.abstractThe main purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between Intimate partner violence, social support and psychological distress among University girls who are dating. The study focused on three research objectives and these were; to identify the relationship between intimate partner violence and psychological distress among university girls dating married men, to investigate the relationship between intimate partner violence and social support among university girls dating married men and to examine the relationship between social support and psychological distress among university girls dating married men. The study employed a quantitative research designs with a total of 169 female students using a self-reporting questionnaire as the data collection method. The findings if the study revealed that there. It was hypothesized that there is no significant relationship between intimate partner violence and psychological distress, there is no significant relationship between intimate partner violence and social support and that there is no significant relationship between social support and psychological distress. Results indicate that there is a significant relationship between social support and psychological distress. There is a significant relationship between intimate partner violence and social support. Basing on the findings, results indicate that the relationship between intimate partner violence and psychological distress. This study was focused on establishing the relationship between perceived social support, self-esteem and stress among adolescents. The study therefore concluded that a significant weak but positive relationship between intimate partner violence and psychological distress, there is a significant but very weak positive relationship between intimate partner violence and social support and there is a significant but weak positive relationship between social support and psychological distress.en_US
