| dc.description.abstract | There is a large gap between several stakeholders of the criminal justice system. Many citizens do not have access to critical information and resources from the existing system because they are often neglected and not provided with appropriate channels to receive such data. This has in turn brought about high levels of ignorance in the general population about police and court activities. Also, it is evident that other stakeholders do not effectively and efficiently execute their objectives with the structure of the existing systems, as they face a variety of challenges. With the fast growing ICT sector, we believe that information flow among different stakeholders can be quickened to avert several of the addressed challenges. Therefore, the objective of this project was to develop and implement an automated system that acts as a quick information flow engine in the criminal justice sector. System development processes resulted in a desktop and mobile application that achieves the said general functionality. Using a research methodology, the system requirements were obtained, probable system designs in line with the objectives of the project were then made and the system implemented. Implementation was achieved using various programming languages in the .NET framework, while database designs were implemented basing on SQL. The system implementation has also made use of a significant number of web based services to achieve functionalities like internet calling, digital mapping among others. In conclusion, we believe that this project implementation is the best solution to scenarios of unfairness and lag in the criminal justice system of Uganda. We therefore strongly recommend the government to adapt to this system, but also invest more in the ICT sector, in a bid to realize all the potential benefits of such actions. | en_US |
