dc.description.abstractThe report is comprised of three chapters which will fully explore the research objectives. The five chapters offer essential material on various aspects of the research. Chapter one encompasses the general introduction of the study, the background of the study, the general and specific objectives which are ideal for all the aspects of this report. This chapter also brings out the problem that sought a need for this research, the scope of the study and points out the significance of the study. Chapter two contains the literature review from different articles, textbooks and scholarly documents by different authors that are related to this research in one way or another. Discussion of the literature by the researcher is also part and parcel of this chapter. This chapter brings forth the clear description of walkability, factors influencing walkability on major streets, how and provides the Strategies or design interventions that can promote walkability on Yusuf Lule and Kafumbe-Mukasa road in Kampala city. Chapter three essentially looks at the different methods of data collection which included use of questionnaire, photography interviews, measurement and literature review. It also contains the sampling techniques used during the interviews and highlights on the data processing and analysis process. Chapter four contains the findings and the discussion on a comparative study on walkability on Yusuf Lule and Kafumbe-Mukasa road in Kampala city. The discussion is arranged in three stages where by stage 1 talks about the evaluation of the physical conditions of pedestrian infrastructure on Yusuf Lule and Kafumbe-Mukasa road in Kampala city, stage 2 talks about the the factors that influence walkability on Yusuf Lule and Kafumbe-Mukasa road and stage 3 talks about the design interventions that can promote walkability on Yusuf Lule and Kafumbe-Mukasa road . Chapter five is the last chapter of this research and it includes the summary of all the chapters and provides possible practical solutions to the major issues identified. It also includes the conclusion to make a summary of the research.en_US
