dc.description.abstractMarriage is sacred and only happiness is expected by individuals going into it. It is a legally reorganized union of two people that is man and woman as partners in a personal relationship. Why marriages break and end up in divorce and separation was the question in our study. In this study the impact of grit and communication on marital satisfaction is studied and each variable affects other among married individuals. This study is to investigate the relationship among grit, communication and marital satisfaction among married individuals. The study used a quantitative research study design in particular, correlation study design which determined whether and to what extent a relationship existed between two or more quantifiable variables. The study was to establish a relationship or lack of it (relationship) among the variables. A sample size of 112 married individuals were reached by the use of self-administered questionnaires (Grit-Scale and the Dutchman Marital Satisfaction and Communication Questionnaire). By the use of accidental sampling method, married individuals that had spent two and plus years in marriage ranging from 18years of age were the focus of the study. Epi info version 7, a total of sample size of 112 married individuals were included in the study at a 95% confidence level at an expected frequency of 10% of marital dissatisfaction. At the end of the study, our results showed that there was a significant relationship between grit and marital satisfaction also there was a significant relationship between grit and communication and lastly there was no significant relationship between communication and marital satisfaction. In conclusion, grittier married people tend to be happier and attain more satisfaction in their marital relationships as compared to less gritty people. Grit keeps them more glued and focused on making their marriages work than falling out. They will actually even communicate better with their partners in marriage. Communication keeps a marital relationship run but it can as well lead it to its downfall. A couple with good communication skills and that that takes time to think about what they are to communicate record as happier in their marriages yet those with poor communication fall apart so easily, hence couples learn and practice proper communication skills between them. Marital satisfaction seems to be the end result of every marriage so couples should always aim at making their partners benefit rather than just selfishly thinking about their own needs personally. This will make the equation balance and hence satisfaction for both partners.en_US
