dc.description.abstractThe study aimed at examining the relationship between stress, coping strategies and job performance among nurses of Mulago Hospital gynecology and obstetrics department. This was examined using a research design and a sample of 66 respondents was selected using a random sampling technique. Raw data was collected, coded and analyzed using SPSS where Pearson’s rank correlation co efficient (r) was used to examine the significance of the hypothesis and the results of the study indicated that stress and coping strategies are significantly positively related (where p<0.01,r=0.592), stress and job performance are significantly related (where p<0.0,r=0.616), coping strategies and job performance are significantly related (where p<0.01,r=0.717). Drawing from the findings of the study, it was recommended that management needs to pay more attention to employees’ work place stressors and develop suitable strategies to manage their impacts because stress impacts on their coping strategies. By doing so employees working environment would be made suitable to their roles thus leading to better coping strategies.en_US
