dc.description.abstractSecondary access in the UHF TV band, often referred to as TV white space (TVWS), is considered as one of the promising solution to the spectrum scarcity in the communication systems. It allows secondary users (SUs) to access the temporally unoccupied TV channels, as long as the primary user (PU) is protected from the secondary interference. However, when the secondary users are deployed inside the TV coverage area operating on channels adjacent to the TV broadcasting channels, they may cause harmful adjacent channel interference to the TV receivers in close proximity. This analytical study, details the effect of location of WSDs at different distances from the TV receiver locations within the TV network using the underlay system of communication It also details the effect of operation of these WSDs at different locations within and outside the TV network at different transmission powers Towards the end of the analysis, I propose a mechanism of addressing this interference challenge, using a Threshold Area Scheme (TAS) and Threshold Interference Scheme (TIS) to reduce on the WSD interference at the TV receiver. I took on my idea through simulations to show the role of controlling communication resources in reduction of interference hence improved primary network performance.en_US
