Background; Assessing effectiveness of mosquito net distribution campaign towards malaria control in Kabale district. The objectives of this study were to access the contribution of government mosquito net distribution program towards effective malaria control vis-à-vis peoples’ efforts on the use of mosquito nets and total mosquito net ownership. Research method; I conducted a cross-sectional study in Mwendo parish Kitumba sub county in Kabale district. I administered a questionnaire to measure the source of ownership of mosquito bed net and the number of malaria cases reported by any household 30 days prior to the study. Results; The number of days persons slept under mosquito net in a week was also recorded during the study. LLIN use was reported among respondents to be 84.1% despite of the different categories on the extent of LLINs usage. The study establishes Sleeping under the mosquito net to be highly effective in controlling the number of malaria cases likely to be reported by households in Kabale district. Desirable results on extent of LLIN use by households were found to be 6-7 days in a week. Conclusions;I recommend that routine mass LLIN distribution campaign should continue. A survey on factors associated with inconsistent use be undertaken, reasons for not privately buying the bed nets by households should be keenly studied to reduce on the burden of supplying bed nets by the government.en_US
