    Abstract
Fair compensation for compulsory acquisition of land is the amount received by a local person in return of a piece of land that should restore him/her to the original position in that this person should neither gain nor lose because of the works. (Guidelines for compensation under land acquisition in Uganda, June 2017). The philosophy behind adequate compensation is that the local person should know what the local prices really are.
