dc.description.abstractThis research study was focused on parental separation, coping and mental health problems among urban adolescents in Uganda. Parental separation is rampant in Uganda among adolescents who account for almost half of the country’s population that are prone to various mental health problems. The major objectives of this study were to find out the relationship between parental separation and coping among adolescents, to find out the relationship between parental separation and mental health problems among adolescents and to find out the relationship between coping and mental health problems among adolescents. A non- random sample was used from both male and female students of Kitende S.S.S. The instruments used included self-administered questionnaires to collect data using a structured questionnaire that contained Bio Data about COPE inventory (Carver, C. S ,2013), Warmick -Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale(WEMWBS) and was also used for analysis. In conclusion, there was no significant relationship between parental separation and coping among urban adolescents, nor a significant relationship between parental separation and mental health problems among urban adolescents and but there was a significant relationship between coping and mental health problems among urban adolescents.en_US
